A Checklist of 5 Shenandoah Valley Vineyards to Visit
The Shenandoah Valley region is home to world-class vineyards and wineries. Some of the best in the area are within a 30-minute drive of our hotel in Harrisonburg. While you can certainly book your spot on a guided tour, going on a self-guided excursion means you can spend as much time as you’d like at each spot.
1. Bluestone Vineyards creates small-batch wines using estate-grown and locally sourced fruit. This means the wine selected is always evolving. Surround yourself with the beauty of the Allegheny Mountains by venturing outside to the outdoor area of the tasting room, complete with heaters and fire pits.
2. Found on 125 acres, CrossKeys Vineyards is a family-owned estate winery about 15 minutes from Harrisonburg. Take in views of the Blue Ridge Mountains from the Tuscan-style villa or onsite bistro as you sip on your favorite kind of vino.
3. Brix & Columns Vineyards planted its first vines in 2016 and is currently growing seven varieties. Thanks to the outdoor fireplace, you can still enjoy the panoramic views during the cooler months. Stop by grace+main cafe to get everything you need for a delicious picnic meal to enjoy during your visit.
4. Located in Mount Crawford, the focal point of Marceline Vineyards is the stunning log barn surrounded by gardens, patios, and wine grapevines. The tasting room staff can help you decide which of their unbelievable wine fits your palate best.
5. After planting its first varietals in 2007, Barren Ridge Vineyards opened its doors in 2008. Located on the same land as the family’s former apple orchard, the vineyard is home to a tasting room and expansive grounds. Wine is available by the glass, flight, or bottle.
